The mission of the LADYS Mentorship Program is to encourage sisterhood and academic excellence amongst young women, promote service to the community within our participants and incite pride within our culture.
The LADYS Mentorship Program envisions young women well-equipped for life after high school, transitioning to college or preparing for other post-secondary options such as starting professional careers, while taking with them the necessary skills to effectively communicate and network amongst peers.
The Leadership, Advancement, and Development of our Young Sisters (LADYS) Mentorship Program was established by Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Senoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. in the Fall of 2001 by the Theta Epsilon Graduate/Professional Chapter located in Buffalo/Rochester, New York. Understanding the sensitive issues young high school women face, the members (Hermanas) wanted to create a curriculum that addressed and managed the needs of this population. In addition, the program was initiated as a means for Hermanas who are passionate about working with young people to give back to their community.
The Leadership, Advancement and Development of our Young Sisters (LADYS) Program provides mentorship and support to young women of color between the ages of 14-18, with a focus on college and career preparation.
